Certificate Course in Research Methodology
Certificate Course in Research Methodology (Level I, II, III, IV)
From 5th of August 2024 to 22nd November 2024,
Days: Mondays and Fridays
Time: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm IST
Certificate Course in Research Methodology is an autonomous course offered by EMOTICONS India. It has been designed keeping in mind the new education policy which emphasizes the importance of Research. Students who have completed four years of education can now enroll directly for PhD. This makes it even more essential to have a solid understanding of research methodologies. This intensive training, from level 1 to level 4, helps to build a stronger foundation within the field of research and statistics.
Every level will give you the confidence in becoming an independent researcher, allowing you to develop your own topic, determine the type of study design required, select appropriate statistics for your study, and confidently report on the entire research.
Participants are encouraged to complete all four levels of this training.
It is a structured, theoretically sound and practically driven course. The objective of this course is to pay attention to practical skill development through hands-on experience with SPSS, a commonly used software for statistical analysis.
The course structure is designed in a way that the learnt concepts of Research Methodology are brought into practice through interactive and brainstorming sessions, fun and practical method of conducting a quality research project.
Date: 15th and 16th June 2024
Outcome of the training:
- Participants will be able to frame the statement of the problem.
- Participants will be able to do review of literature by themselves.
- Participants will be able to write hypotheses in the correct manner.
- Participants will be able to carry out correlational study independently using SPSS.
- Participants will be able to carry out comparative study independently using SPSS.
Theory: In order to have strong hold on research it is necessary to have a sound theoretical knowledge about research concepts. It will include;
- How to frame the Research question.
- How to state the research problem.
- How to write the research objectives.
- How to frame the hypotheses for correlation and comparative study.
Practical: Every participant will have hands-on experience in the data handling in SPSS. It will include;
- How to code the data in SPSS.
- How to upload the data in SPSS.
- How to calculate Mean, Standard Deviation, and Standard Error using SPSS.
- How to find Normal Distribution of the data using SPSS.
- How to do Correlation and simple Regression Analysis using SPSS.
- How to do paired sample t-test, independent sample t-test when the data is normally distributed using SPSS.
- How to perform non-parametric tests when the data is not normally distributed using SPSS.;
Date: 29th and 30th June 2024
Outcome of the training:
- Participants will be able to choose an appropriate test for research.
- Participants will be able to construct a psychological test.
- Participant will be able to do the item analysis.
- Participants will be able to establish reliability for the test using SPSS.
- Participants will be able to establish validity using SPSS.
- Participants will be able to establish Norms using SPSS.
Theory: For quantitative research use of standardized test as a tool is a regular practice. It will include;
- How to select a standardized test as a tool for the research.
- How to construct a psychological test if the relevant test is not available.
- How to do factor analysis for the psychological test.
- Understanding index of difficulty and discrimination as a method of item analysis for the test.
- Understanding reliability, validity and norms which are the essential psychometric properties of the test.
Practical: Every participant will have hands on experience in –
- How to establish index of discrimination for the test using SPSS.
- How to do the factor analysis for the test using SPSS.
- How to establish reliability, validity and norms for the test using SPSS.
Date: 13th and 14th July 2024
Outcome of the training:
- Participants will be able to write a quality research proposal.
- Participants will be able to do different types of Multiple Regression Analysis.
- Participants will be able to carry out research using Mediation and Moderation models.
- Participants will be able to perform One-way ANOVA and Two-way ANOVA using SPSS.
Theory: Multiple regression analysis is necessary when there are more than two variables in correlational study. At times Mediation and Moderation Model become necessary in the correlational study. When we have more than two independent groups or more than one independent variable appropriate statistics should be used. Therefore, it is necessary that participants get guidance related to these higher-level statistics. It will include;
- Understanding the difference between correlation and regression analysis.
- When to use different types of multiple regression analysis.
- Knowing the mediation and moderation model.
- Understanding what is Analysis of Variance.
Practical: Every participant will have hands-on experience performing all these higher levels of statistics using SPSS. The participants will know;
- How to code the data for multiple regression, mediation, moderation, One-way ANOVA and Two- way ANOVA in SPSS.
- How to perform different types of multiple regression analysis using SPSS.
- How to do mediation and moderation using SPSS.
- How to perform One way ANOVA and Two-way ANOVA using SPSS.
Date: 27th and 28th July 2024
Outcome of the workshop:
- Participants will be able to write research Report Chapter wise.
- Participants will be able to do analysis for different types of interventions.
- Participants will be able to perform ANCOVA for intervention study.
- Participants will be able to perform Gain scores with ANOVA for intervention study.
- Participants will be able to perform MANOVA for more than one dependent variables.
Theory: These are other relevant statistics for experimental and quasi-experimental research designs and comparative study. Whenever the researcher wants to establish causation, the researcher has to do intervention. In this level the participants will be getting the guidance in;
- Understanding the experimental and quasi-experimental studies.
- How to design intervention studies.
- What statistics are appropriate for intervention studies.
- What to do when more than one dependent variable exists in comparative studies.
Practical: Every participant will have hands on experience performing all these other advance statistics using SPSS for intervention studies for experimental designs. It will include;
- How to code the data for experimental and quasi-experimental designs in SPSS.
- How to perform ANCOVA which is a robust statistic for intervention studies.
- How to perform gain scores with ANOVA for intervention studies when certain assumptions are not fulfilled.
- How to do MANOVA for comparative studies when there is more than one dependent variable.
