International Training on Motivating Traumatized Clients
Motivating Traumatized Clients
11th of July 2022
Time: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Description:
Trauma can have a devastating impact on people, often leading to problems such as Anxiety, Depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The more significant and complex the trauma history is for an individual the more it impacts there ability to benefit from traditional structures of goal setting and seeking. Some counsellors may feel unequipped to deal with the special needs of traumatised clients, for whom traditional forward oriented goal-setting may be less helpful.
This training is to help mental health professionals to understand how to motivate traumatized clients. It will provide a simple foundation to look at motivation as it is impacted by trauma and suggest alternative ways to engage clients, students, employees in a more efficient process of transformation and growth.
Training Objectives:
- Understand how trauma impacts motivation
- Learn to identify the primary causes of low levels of motivation
- See motivational issues through the lens of trauma
- Develop an alternative lens to view goal setting and goal achievement
- Increase ones compassionate engagement of others in a process of transformation
- Understand how to maximise common interventions
- Learn strategies to build more effective motivational interventions
